The third Archbishop of Colombo, the Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Coudert OMI, became the Archbishop of Colombo in 1905. His reign went on for 24 years and has contributed to the Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Colombo by being probably the Archbishop who established the highest number of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese.
Among such schools are some of the private schools such as St. Peter’s College, Colombo, De Mazenod College, Kandana, Maris Stella College, Negombo, Holy Cross College, Gampaha and some of the most prominent vested schools such as Holy Family Convent, Dehiwela, St. Anne’s Convent, Wattala, St. Mary’s College, Dehiwela, Good Shepherd Convent, Nayakakanda and St. Sebastian’s Convent, Kandana.
He retired from office in the year 1929.
