The fourth Archbishop of Colombo, Most Rev. Dr. Peter Marque OMI, became the Archbishop of Colombo in 1929. He followed the footsteps of his predecessor and gave himself completely for the development of education in the Archdiocese of Colombo.

His contribution to develop De Mazenod College is fondly remembered by the De La Salle Brothers. Some of the most prominent schools came into existence during the time of the Most Rev. Dr. Peter Marque OMI and they continue to have their excellence in education.

His tenure as the Archbishop of Colombo ended in 1937, having completed his mission especially for the education of the needy children in the society.
